Our original 10 week Ultimate Experience ski instructor course is the most popular way to spend a season on the slopes.

From early January to March, you’ll develop your skiing skills with professional coaching to gain globally respected instructor qualifications. This course is far more than an instructor training program – beyond the sport, we have arranged trips and activities that will allow you to enjoy the best of Canada.

Course Highlights

Become a ski instructor, gaining internationally recognised qualifications, whilst enjoying an extensive fun-packed social programme.

What's Included

Expert Training

Ski le Gap’s training program is continually being developed by Bruce Eaves, Ski le Gap’s snow director and CSIA Level 4 examiner. All our coaches are Level 4’s.

We have a maximum of 8 students in each class with the possibility of changing groups weekly, ensuring students remain in the group that best suits their ability. You will be allocated an instructor as a personal mentor who is responsible for providing extra support and guidance to ensure maximum progression.

This enhances the coaching process by providing invaluable personal analysis.

Full season pass provided, including weekends, valid for the entire winter season.

We include the cost of examination fees for your Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance Level 1 Certification.

1 year subscription to the CSIA.

Specific training in first aid on the slopes with the ski patrol.

Additional training in freestyle, gate training, moguls and powder.

Accommodation

Full accommodation in shared rooms with private bathrooms. All Ski le Gap students live together creating a great community.

Breakfast, lunch and freshly prepared evening meal is included every weekday. At the weekend, when students might like a lie-in, we provide a hot brunch and full evening meal.

Trips and Activities

Visit Montreal’s 22km of underground shopping and lively nightlife.

Go ice skating on the Rideau Canal on a trip to Canada’s capital city.

Participate in winter sports at North America’s biggest Winter Carnival.

Learn to build a quinzhee (ice cave) on an outdoor experience like no other.

You can’t come to Canada without experiencing a live ice hockey game – a true Canadian experience!

Ski le Gap organises a number of different evening events and activities throughout the course - sports nights, theme nights, pub quizzes, ice-hockey matches, yoga, cookery, house parties and much more!

Support

A member of the Ski le Gap team is available 24/7. In case of emergencies a member of staff will always accompany or follow you to the clinic or hospital as necessary.

We remain a family run company and so a director will be in the resort throughout the season to ensure courses run smoothly.

Other

Transfer to and from Montreal Airport on official course arrival and departure dates.

Bus pass provided so you have access to downtown, the village and Tremblant resort.

If you want to work as an instructor afterwards, we can guarantee job interviews at the local Tremblant snow school. We can also provide help and advice on employment elsewhere.

If you want to stay in resort afterwards, we can help you find accommodation.

Not included

We will provide advice on the best flights to get.

To attend Ski le Gap you must be comprehensively insured for your entire stay with us. Snow sports coverage is a prerequisite in our terms and conditions, so you must have adequate insurance.

We recommend buying your equipment in resort, if you don't already have it. Our coaches will give you expert advice on the equipment needed for the course. You will also receive between 15-20% discount.

Without the appropriate visa you will be denied entry into Canada. Visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to Canada need to have an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA), which costs $7.

Exams beyond Level 1 are not included. The Level 2 exam fee is approx £300. Exams such as CSIA Snowpark and CSCF Race Coaching are often available for an additional cost of approx £180 each. Please contact us for more information.

LEARN

Join an amazing cohort of gappers learning to become ski and snowboard instructors.

You will be training to improve your technique on varied terrain while learning communication and teaching skills to gain accreditation as an instructor.

Coaching is from Level 4 instructors, the highest level of certification. Handpicked from the best in Canada, they are passionate about their sport and dedicated to your learning.

TEACH

After qualifying as a Level 1 instructor you have the chance to gain work experience with the local snow school so you can put your newly acquired skills into practice, teaching alongside experienced pros.

You’ll gain leadership and communications skills that are highly valuable, as well as building self-confidence.
